Parking at Volusia County Beaches

Driving on the beaches is a Volusia County tradition dating back to many years ago. Beachgoers can enjoy the leisurely drive on the sand along with the convenience of parking right where you set up your chairs on the beach.

Park Volusia beach parking has made some changes. Volusia residents can now apply for an annual no cost beach parking permit allowing for free parking on-beach and off-beach locations. Visitors can purchase daily passes or annual permits for on-beach driving and off-beach parking. As of October 1, 2024, all parking permits will be virtual (no more stickers) that are managed using your vehicle license plate(s).

Daily passes can be purchased at the beach entrance ramps. Be sure to apply for your annual parking permits prior to arriving at beach parking locations. Annual parking permits WILL NO LONGER be available at beach entrance ramps. Permits must be purchased online, in the Volusia County Beaches app, or at a Park Volusia office during business hours. Volusia County residents must register their vehicles to avoid paying the fees.

Volusia County Beaches: Where to Park

Volusia County is proud to offer on-beach parking sites as well as many off-beach parking lots in Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange and Ormond Beach.

On-Beach Parking

When parking on-beach, please be a responsible beach driver by driving only in designated areas and observing the speed limit. The driving areas are designated by signs and wooden posts. Please watch for pedestrians, sunbathers and wildlife. Parking is allowed east, or seaward, of the posts.

The beach is open to vehicles from 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. or sundown whichever is earlier from May 1 through Oct. 31, and between sunrise to sunset from Nov. 1 to April 30, tides permitting. Without a beach parking permit, there is a year-round per vehicle access fee to drive on the beach; this includes unlimited reentry with a day pass.

Beach driving  is offered at beach ramps in Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Ormond Beach and Ponce Inlet. While most vehicles are allowable to drive on the beach, front-elevated vehicles are not permitted. Elevated vehicles with front fender height alterations exceeding four inches compared to the rear are not authorized. A "fender" is the contoured part over road wheels that limits mud, water dispersion, or other substances.
